Saturday

Excellent day for a walk, just as well as this one is a fairly long one. Our aim is to head for Blue Anchor Bay, then travel back to Minehead via the coastal path.

We start with a hearty breakfast, lesley cooked the black pudding we purchased yesterday along with a sausage some bacon and an egg.  A quick tidy up and we are off . The lane heading to Dunster soon starts to rise. On one side we have deep banks and on the other views across the Bristol Channel. The path leaves Dunster skirting Bats wood as we climb again upto Carhampton the views of the Castle are awesome.

Crossing more fields after Carhampton leads to the shingle beach of Blue Anchor Bay. A steam train rushes by along the coastal track going inland to Washford before returning to the sea breifly at watchett.

After lunch looking out to sea, while watching the birds swoop down and the tourists walk on the shingle to the waves to paddle, we continue to Minehead along the coast path.

Passing Butlins and its guests, we arrive at the staion as a train is just leaving, the sound of its steam puffing from its chimney echoing in our ears as we head home.
